Which is the major subject you are currently focusing on?

STERIXENE recently developed two major innovations in the field of packaging sterilization (among others) to respond to user issues.

As an expert in pulsed light sterilization, STERIXENE has developed an optical module that is very easy to use, allowing maintenance to be carried out in a few minutes and without tools! This principle, very appreciated by operators, was patented in January 2019. It ensures a decontamination that can go beyond 5 log reduction on all types of food packaging.

Thanks to our in-house microbiology laboratory, we can validate sterilization levels according to the customer's technical requirements: line speeds, sterilization objectives, product specificities, definition of germs, etc. All types of packaging and food matrices can be studied. STERIXENE is even launching the sterilization of powders and liquids in 2020, which are markets with high potential.

In order to facilitate quality controls on production lines using light as a sterilization system, STERIXENE has also developed totally hermetic bio-indicators, thus ensuring perfect line safety. These bio-indicators can be used on low pressure UV, medium pressure UV, LED UV and pulsed light sterilization systems. The principle was also patented in October 2018 and has recently been launched on the market. Hundreds of bio-indicators have already been used. Users have really been won over by the simplicity, safety and speed of the microbiological tests.

What is your strategy to answer the increasing demand from both the industries and the consumers, in terms of sustainable development / eco-design ?

Pulsed light as a sterilization solution is a real alternative to chemical sterilization. The technology does not emit any pollutants and does not consume water. The Xenon gas used in the lamps is neutral and non-toxic, facilitating the selective sorting of the lamp. Manufacturers thus avoid the storage of chemicals, the reprocessing of waste water usually used in the process and of course, line operators are not exposed to dangerous products! 

Why did you choose to take part in ALL4PACK 2020 ? / Which kind of decision makers do you meet there ?

Pulsed light technology naturally finds its place among equipment manufacturers in the food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical sectors who wish to innovate and integrate a sterilization solution that is advantageous in terms of price, space and eco-efficiency.

The pulsed light packaging market was identified more than 30 years ago in the United States as an efficient and practical sterilization solution. It is therefore only natural that we receive regular calls for this application.

For STERIXENE, ALL4PACK is an opportunity to meet machine manufacturers and end users who wish to invest in a sustainable environmental policy while securing their production.

It is also an opportunity for STERIXENE to discuss tomorrow's innovations and understand the issues facing OEMs and end users. ALL4PACK allows us to identify our priority development projects. Sensitivity to customer demand is obviously the first step in our R&D activities.
